Ever seen an empty cigarette packet on the floor? It happened to you as well, right — while taking that walk in the park or down a sidewalk. All those empty boxes could be putting our environment and animals in danger. No one keeps the empty box after finishing smoking they rather throw it waste. At other times, they discard it and leave the trash anywhere. A lot of it can cause nature and us a great deal of trouble.
This refers to the way cigarette boxes are not only unsightly but can damage our environment in many different ways. When left on streets, cigarette butts and stems are the most prevalent type of litter while other street wastes include filters. This is not your garden variety litter — it can be toxic and dangerous. Cigarette filters are composed of a type of plastic. This plastic can take forever, often decades and centuries to decompose. For instance, when we discard these filters and they eventually land in a river or stream this affects the fish and other living beings who live in that water. And last but not least, if there is a lot of cigarette boxes thrown on the ground that also make our parks and streets look dirty.
Cigarette boxes, both empty and full are also littered all over the place — truly part of our pollution problem today. Lots of people know that cigarette smoke is bad for the body, but they may not even be aware their smoking waste can also affect the environment. Cigarette butts are a HUGE litter source and can be really damaging to wildlife. The same way people are quick to throw cigarette boxes away ends up in our landfills or on the roads and rivers. This is a big problem to our environment where it makes pollution and have so many effects on both animals as human.
Even cigarette boxes could be highly damaging to nature, When discarded improperly, it can cause harm to animals and life in the waters by contaminating our water sources. And other animals, birds and small mammals can eat the cigarette box since they consider some of them give out a food smell. This can sicken them or kill them. Furthermore, when these boxes are sprinkled around they can gum up drains and gutters that cause floods, street wear & tear damage to our homes. This time, a cigarette box that is thrown away when it has run out. Most people trash the box after they have turned their cigarette out. The Garland comes and picks up all that trash, carrying it to the dump…which is a place where they put ALL of their garbage. The landfill is always filled with a lot of trash, and cigarette boxes or anything in packaging were plentiful. At times, the trash is not disposed of correctly causing a little breeze to blow that cigarette box away. They might be on our roads or in rivers and streams. This continues the pollution loop and escalates the problem.
