Once bright and colorful, with fun designs and logos that turned heads, cigarette boxes used to be happy. But now plain packaging for cigarettes is the order of the day in many countries. That means the boxes are plain and do not have exciting designs. Here are what plain packaging below looks like and what it is and why this issue matters for all of us, especially for young people
Plain packaging means that cigarette boxes must be in just one color, like white or brown, and they can only have simple writing for the brand name. These packages have no pictures, logos or glossy print on them. In some locations, packaging carries even a warning label listing the dangers of smoking. The purpose of these warnings is to remind individuals that smoking is harmful and that it can cause severe health illnesses. Plain cigarette packaging also protects young people by making it harder for tobacco companies to depict their products as fun, whilst making the packages less appealing.
Plain packaging has been shown to be effective in cutting down smoking rates. To be honest, smoking may look nice when cigarette boxes are colorful and have beautiful pictures. Mostly, it is young people who think that smoking will make them look more mature or trendy. However, when the cigarette new packaging is dull and lifeless, smoking doesn't seem so attractive. And so, the youth are less likely to decide to smoke- as they don’t see it as a fun or exciting thing to do
The issue of plain packaging is not a question of whether it should be implemented. For one thing, it is capable of stopping more teenagers to begin smoking. As we have already mentioned, making the packaging plain and not interesting enough - you remember how we said that smoking doesn't look cool if there are colorful things around and it’s all boring; no one wants to give it a try if it’s colorful and everything is boring. This is a perfect way of preventing them from getting a habit that could eventually harm their health.

If you are living and working in an area where plain packaging is mandatory for cigarettes as well, you should keep in mind some important things. Firstly, it is not a good idea to allow yourself to be fooled by the dull look of the pack. The product is still very dangerous and will lead to cancer, heart disease, or lung disease. The truth is that the risks associated with smoking are still the same, so take the new packaging as a way to trick you into thinking it is a different product being sold.

Second, smokers: Think about giving up smoking. A lot of excellent resources are available to assist you in quitting smoking. Just to name one, nicotine replacement therapy (with patches or gum) and also counseling (talking to a counselor who supports you) are good ways to do it. You may also find groups where you can discuss and get support from people who are also in the process of quitting.

Finally, stay vigilant that tobacco companies are still attempting to promote smoking even if they can’t use nice cigarette packaging. They may use social media, events or other subtle techniques to get people smoking. Being cool and healthy means to not get suckered in by these promotions that you made fall classic reaches. It is far better to select a smoke-free life and reap all of the benefits.
